Resources for clients seeking crisis referrals, financial assistance, and other means of supplemental support, not limited to the state of Colorado

Last updated: July 7th, 2024

Please be mindful of the fact that police/law enforcement are often not adequately equipped to offer mental health support and may even pose danger to historically marginalized communities including but not limited to: People of Color, Neurodivergent people and Disabled/Differently Abled people. (https://www.pewresearch.org/short-reads/2020/06/03/10-things-we-know-about-race-and-policing-in-the-u-s/). Please ALSO reach out to community leaders, neighbors, friends, family, and/or other trusted individuals to be present if you are calling the police.

In addition to calling crisis services, we warmly encourage you to let your trusted loved ones know that you are struggling. Ask them to stay with you and to make a plan together. You don't have to face this alone. If you do not want police or hospital intervention, please be sure to communicate this clearly, if you have the capacity.

Also, please note that some crisis line organizations and workers are mandated to report calls concerning suicide to the police. If this is a concern, we encourage you to first ask about their reporting policies before sharing. For more information of why this is important and the origins of the language utilized, please visit Inclusive Therapists HERE.
